The Story Of Dr. Hotch

Before he became known as Dr. Hotch, Adam Hotchkiss grew up skateboarding, frequently injured and extremely thin. As a teenager, Adam struggled with an eating disorder, and after high school his health continued to decline. He felt increasingly unsure of who he was becoming.

Then he found bodybuilding.

Very little has ever been casual for Adam. When he commits to something, he gives it everything. Bodybuilding gave him structure, discipline, and a reason to care for himself. To become stronger, he had to learn how to eat. To improve, he had to understand how the body worked.

Hours spent studying physiology, anatomy, nutrition, and biochemistry eventually became something much bigger than a hobby. What began as an attempt to change his body became a lifelong fascination with medicine.

Fitness gave him direction. Science gave him purpose.

He Entered Medicine To Help People Thrive

Adam pursued medicine believing science could meaningfully improve people's lives.

He completed a four-year surgical residency focused on foot and ankle reconstruction, expecting to spend his career helping athletes recover from injury.

Instead, much of his work centered on the consequences of advanced diabetes and chronic disease.

He treated devastating infections and amputated limbs. He could perform the surgery. He could solve the immediate problem. But by the time many patients reached him, the damage had already been done.

“The system was built to keep people alive. I wanted to help people become better.”

That realization fundamentally changed how he viewed healthcare.

Learning The Hard Way

Like many young athletes chasing performance, Adam eventually experimented with performance-enhancing drugs.

At the time, honest conversations about their use were rare. Conversations about risk reduction were even rarer.

He made mistakes. Rather than hide that chapter, he chose to learn from it.

As his medical knowledge expanded, he immersed himself in the science of long-term health, risk reduction, and responsible medical oversight.

“I was young. I was reckless. I learned - and I wanted to make sure other people didn't have to learn the same way.”

Eventually, his definition of performance changed. The goal was no longer to become bigger. It was to become healthier, stronger, and capable of performing at a high level for decades.

Building The Platform He Had Needed

While completing residency, Adam joined one of the country's fastest-growing telehealth companies as a clinical leader. For the first time, he saw healthcare helping people before serious disease developed.

But he also saw friction. Many patients moved through consultations, sales processes, bundled services, and unnecessary barriers before receiving the care they were seeking.

Adam kept thinking about the younger version of himself. He had wanted physicians who would listen without judgment, honest education, easy access to laboratory testing, and the freedom to make informed decisions.

“algorx became the platform the younger version of me wished had existed.”

A platform built for people who take ownership of their health - combining autonomy with evidence-based medicine.

Building What Didn't Exist

In 2022, Adam partnered with Jim Gibson to build that vision. Adam focused on the clinical philosophy, brand, and customer experience. Jim built the operational foundation.

There was no blueprint. After more than a year of development, the platform finally launched. Within twenty-four hours, Stripe shut down their payment processing.

The team went back to work.

Without funding or venture capital, Adam and Jim sold watches, sold cars, emptied savings accounts, and drained retirement funds to keep building. Failure wasn't simply disappointing. It threatened everything they had.

“There was no backup plan. Only the belief that this needed to exist.”

Today, algorx serves tens of thousands of patients through a compliant healthcare platform focused on evidence-based medicine, accessibility, and reduced friction.

Become More

Adam never wanted algorx to feel like another telehealth company. He believes healthcare should help people become more capable - not simply produce better lab numbers.

More energy. More strength. More confidence. More years. More life.

That belief became the foundation of the brand. For Adam, those words aren't a slogan. They're a standard.

He remains deeply involved in the vision, creative direction, design, language, and customer experience behind algorx. His goal isn't simply to build a healthcare company. It's to build a brand people genuinely want to belong to.

Today, Dr. Hotch lives in Orange County with his family. He trains daily, balancing strength work, running, boxing, cycling, and endurance training. Outside of medicine, he's passionate about design, aesthetics, and building brands that make people feel something.

He is still training. Still learning. Still building. Still Becoming.

And algorx is an invitation to everyone who shares that mindset.

You weren't made merely to survive. You Were Made To Become More.
